Trumpet artist Lesli Dalaba plays with the poetries of the birds and the angels, moving air and spirit in an unimaginable flight of intelligent sound. Put simply, we love her for the joy and inspiration she’s brought to the world throughout the arc of her career. This year, Super Invincible Records is honored to issue The Trumpet Stylings of Lesli Dalaba.
Blowing minds and souls with her hypernatural trumpet playing on countless sorties into the invisible, from her nights on the late 70s and 80s New York City Downtown Music scene and playing alongside Fred Frith, John Zorn, Bill Frisell, Wayne Horvitz and Elliott Sharp (to name but a few), through her uncannily creative Seattle period, Lesli consistently has achieved the almost-impossible for any musician—redefining what a long-established musical instrument may sound like, while making beautiful music and fashioning an unmistakable signature sound.
Captured here within two new compositions, backed by her loyal Anonymous Ensemble across these unique tracks, are 15 minutes of a most special music, presented in an impeccable 10″ vinyl package—a design cocktail that plays the atmosphere of the 80s dive lounge off the recombinant DNA wielded by the underground musical labs of the future of jazz.
